Letter from the Assessors

We would like to inform the residents of our town that the recent Revaluation has been successfully completed, and we are now at 100% of full market value. This achievement is the result of four years of dedicated work to collect the necessary property data.

After the new values were mailed out, we received hundreds of calls from concerned property owners. We accommodated as many appointments as possible, meeting with residents to review their property details and verify that our records were accurate.

Maintaining 100% valuation is an ongoing effort, and to ensure we stay up to date, we must begin collecting data again starting with the areas we began assessing four years ago. Over the next week or so, we will begin data collection in the following locations:

  • Bartlett Pond Road
  • Dalton Hill Rd
  • Tracy Rd
  • Fisher Hill Rd

We will continue to update residents as we move into new areas.

If you live in one of the areas listed above and would like to schedule an appointment to ensure accurate data collection, please call our office at 518-546-3098.

Thank you for your continued cooperation.

Sincerely,
The Assessors' Office

Did you know?

New York State Agriculture and Market Law requires all dogs older than 4 months to be licensed within the Town they reside.

Licensing ensures that all dogs have been properly vaccinated against rabies for the protection of both you and your neighbors.

Also, licensing your dog ensures a safe return to you if lost.

If your dog is spayed or neutered the fee is just $6.00!  Otherwise, it is $13.00.

It can also be done through the mail if you send in proof of rabies vaccination and proof if your pet has been spayed or neutered to the Town Clerk at 38 Park Place, Port Henry, NY  12974 with check or money order made payable to the Town of Moriah for $6.00 or $13.00; whichever is applicable.

Once your dog is licensed it will need to be renewed yearly; a reminder will be mailed to you in the month you licensed your dog.

If you have any questions, please contact the Town Clerk at 518-546-3341 or send an email to townclerk@townofmoriahny.gov.
