Course Outline:
Week 1: Start the class with a quick demonstration of printing an intaglio plate to serve as a familiarization with the printshop and process.
Moving quickly into talking about what images the students would like to etch. I encourage students to bring black and white drawings and ideas.
Finishing the class with the preparation of the ground plate to be taken home and scribed over the week.

Instructor Bio:
Peter Avery Bird
Jeweler, Painter, Printmaker, Rockhound.
I grew up in Central NY, in the Intaglio and Painting studios of my mother Deborah Geurtze. As a result I have always had an innate love for the arts, specifically painting and print.
I was trained by several incredible printmakers and painters including Will Contino, George Parino, and Bob Bureau while I studied at The American University of Cairo (Egypt), Suny Purchase, and Suny Alfred.
Exploration of the natural world and humanity has always informed my creativity. Which has led to my fascination with crystals and their use in adornment throughout history and across cultures.
Using sources from the natural world and the diverse brilliance of cultures I aim to paint the landscape of the mind and how we relate to planet Earth.
