Harvest Hike

Harvest Hike

CATS will again hold the popular Harvest Hike at the 4th Annual Adirondack Harvest Festival at the Essex County Fairgrounds in Westport, Saturday, September 21, beginning at 10 am.

It’s a 5-mile hike that begins and finishes at the Fairgrounds and will get hikers back just in time for a fabulous food vendors at the Harvest Festival.

The hike’s route will take the Viall’s Crossing Trail to the Hemlock Hill Trail and on to the Woods and Swale Trail and then back to the fairgrounds on Lakeshore Road and Sisco Street. There will be an oasis at about midpoint with facilities and refreshments, including delicious apples provided by CATS business sponsor Forrence Orchards (thank you!).

This year’s Harvest Hike is a fundraiser for the Viall’s Crossing Trail, where CATS most recently protected a 135-acre farm and has created a fabulous trail with two terrific loops. The funds raised from the Harvest Hike will help pay for the conservation easement ($47,000 still owed) and for signage and infrastructure over some muddy parts.

Join us for the fun hike and do good at the same time. $10, under 17 free. You can register at the website champlainareatrails.com. You can also register at the hike’s beginning but it’s easiest and faster to get on your way with your advance registration.
