Bird Banding at the Crown Point State Historic Site

Bird Banding at the Crown Point State Historic Site

The Crown Point Banding Station, operated by the Crown Point Banding Association, will open to the public on May 10th.

This is the 44th consecutive year of operation for the Banding Station at its location on the Crown Point State Historic Site, just 300 yards southwest of the British fort, at the edge of the Hawthorn thicket. The Station will operate daily through May 25th. Visitation hours are from 7 AM to 5:30 PM.

Since 1976, over 20,000 birds have been banded, of 106 species. Station staff will present an educational program, at the Station, for groups such as school classes (K and up), bird clubs, civic clubs and other groups. An advanced reservation is required for groups to prevent scheduling conflicts and to help plan staffing. Presentation times are scheduled on a first come basis.
